🕌 Step-by-Step Umrah Rituals

Step 1: Ihram (Sacred State)

Enter the sacred state of Ihram before crossing the Miqat (boundary). Perform ghusl, wear ihram clothing, and make intention (niyyah).

Niyyah for Umrah: "Labbayka Allahumma bi Umratin"

Step 2: Tawaf (Circling the Kaaba)

Circle the Kaaba seven times counter-clockwise, starting and ending at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad).

Start at Black Stone, point towards it and say "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar"
Walk counter-clockwise keeping Kaaba on your left
Complete 7 rounds (circuits)
Men: First 3 rounds walk briskly (Raml), next 4 normal pace

Step 3: Sa'i (Walking Between Safa and Marwa)

Walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa, following the path of Hajar (AS).

Start at Safa hill, face the Kaaba and make dua
Walk towards Marwa hill (1 lap)
At Marwa, face Kaaba and make dua, walk back to Safa (2 laps)
Continue until you complete 7 laps ending at Marwa

Step 4: Halq or Taqsir (Hair Cutting)

Complete Umrah by cutting or shaving hair, symbolizing renewal and completion of pilgrimage.

Men: Shave head completely (Halq) or trim hair short (Taqsir)
Women: Trim fingertip length from end of hair
This completes your Umrah - you can exit Ihram state
